Natur im Fokus 2021

The award-winning pictures of the photo competition for children and young people from Bavaria

Bavaria's diverse landscapes are a real feast for the eyes. Under the motto "Take a look! - With the camera on a voyage of discovery in Bavaria's nature", the photo competition " Natur im Fokus" (Nature in Focus) has been encouraging children and young people since 2007 to take a closer look at their natural surroundings and to engage with their local nature. The focus is not so much on technical perfection and the best equipment, but on interesting motifs, exciting image compositions and, above all, creativity.

From almost 1,500 submitted images, the 2021 jury selected the three best photos in each of three age categories and two competition categories. These 18 prize-winning images, as well as three photos awarded special prizes, can be admired in large format in an exhibition at the Museum Mensch und Natur until April 24. In addition, numerous other images from the current competition will be shown in electronic form. From May 2022, the exhibition will then tour throughout Bavaria.

For the theme "Recharge, hang out, relax," special places in nature were sought. These could radiate a sense of security or represent a view into the distance. The second category, "Change, Pass, Transform," focused on the transformative power of nature. The change of seasons or natural events, but also we humans, contribute to changes in nature. The sponsoring associations of Museum Mensch und Natur and BIOTOPIA - Naturkundemuseum Bayern and the Bavarian Savings Bank Association each awarded an additional special prize.

" Natur im Fokus" was launched in 2007 by Museum Mensch und Natur and has been organized jointly with the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment since 2010. BIOTOPIA - Naturkundemuseum Bayern has also been involved in the cooperation since 2021.
