Special exhibition at Museum Mensch und Natur:

The 100 best photos visiting the Museum Mensch und Natur

10 December 2021 until 19 June 2022

wildlife collage

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition marks the return of a public favorite to the Museum Mensch und Natur. On display are the award-winning images from the eponymous nature photography competition, considered the largest and most prestigious of its kind and hosted annually by the Natural History Museum London. With a total of 100 fascinating images, the exhibition offers moving insights into the magnificent, diverse and sometimes dramatic natural world.

Photographers from around the world have captured unique moments that reflect the beauty and fragility of our planet. From more than 50,000 entries from 95 countries, an international jury of experts selected winners in a total of 19 categories, as well as the Wildlife Photographer and Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021.

The spectrum of images ranges from touching animal portraits, enchanting plant images and dramatic hunting scenes to breathtaking underwater shots, such as the image of the overall winner and Wildlife Photographer of the Year Laurent Ballesta. But also moving documents of animal behavior and shots that show us our ambivalent relationship to nature and our fellow creatures or make us see nature with completely new eyes.

The selected images show the current "state of the art" of international nature photography and let us marvel at the technical skill, patience and creativity behind these shots. Above all, they show the incredible diversity of the animal and plant world with which we share our world, and highlight the role of each of us in protecting its future.
