The infinite and three-dimensional magnification of the stereo magnifier (binocular) makes tiny objects from the plant world, such as the stamens of a flower, large and "tangible". You can see the moist velvety texture of a surface and almost feel as if you could brush your fingertip over it! The "Binos", affectionately abbreviated in science, serve in the workshop as an observation instrument and tool to recognize the detailed fascination of different and unusual flower shapes, their components and nectaries and to transform them into artistic drawings.

The course is suitable for curious beginners as well as for advanced artists who want to take a new look at things. After a short introduction into the handling of the binoculars, you will draw what you have observed in magnification with professional support. In addition, you will learn all kinds of interesting facts about the flowers, their inhabitants and pollinators.

The instructor Yasumin Lermer is a draftswoman at the Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg and can provide support at any level in the small group.

The workshop will take place as part of the Flower Power Festival 2023.

Bring along:
You are welcome to bring your own drawing materials or they will be provided in the course (drawing sheet, 3B pencil, kneaded eraser, sharpener).

You are welcome to bring your own plant models that you find interesting, whether they are blades of grass, flowers, seeds or simple leaves. In addition, the instructor will bring various appropriate plant and flower materials.

Access
The event will take place in the BIOTOPIA Lab, located in the Botanical Garden. Please come to the main entrance of the Botanical Garden, Menzingerstr. 65, 80638 Munich, at least 10 minutes before the workshop starts. You will be picked up there and guided to the BIOTOPIA Lab. If you are running late, please call 089 / 178 61-411.

You do not need a ticket to the Botanical Garden to attend the workshop. However, if you want to visit the Botanical Garden before or after the workshop, please buy a ticket at the ticket office.

The event will be held in German.
